Salvation
In a remote village in eastern Turkey, a decades-old land dispute divides the community. The Hazerans live in the upper part of the village, while the Bezaris once inhabited the lower section before being forced into exile. Upon their return, rumors spread that they intend to steal the Hazerans' land.
Hazeran leader Sheikh Ferit advocates for peace, compromise, and coexistence. His brother Mesut takes a different path - haunted by nightmares he believes are prophetic visions, he convinces the Hazerans that salvation for one side can only be achieved through the complete annihilation of the other. The villagers embrace this idea with enthusiasm: driven by a sense of injustice and righteous anger, they see themselves as defenders of their land rather than those claiming it at their neighbors' expense.
Based on true events, director Emin Alper deliberately blurs the boundary between dream and reality, combining realistic elements with a distinctly stylized aesthetic. The result is a timeless story with clear relevance to the present day. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2026.
