Were the Christmases of our childhood truly different, or do we simply remember them differently? Michal Stehlík and Martin Groman embark on a festive special of "Rewrite History", tracing Czech Christmas through the 20th century - from the First Republic through wartime celebrations and the communist clash between Jesus and Father Frost, to television fairy tales, mandarins, Tuzex, and post-revolutionary consumerism.
They explore how politics, propaganda, and advertising shaped Christmas, and how each generation creates its own vision of "the good old days". Perhaps we don't remember Christmas as it was, but as we wish it had been.
