The three-part documentary series Love Does Not Hurt loosely follows the successful drama miniseries Monyová on the Oneplay streaming platform, which addressed domestic violence and toxic relationships through the tragic story of writer Simona Monyová. Love Does Not Hurt goes further, giving voice to real experiences of people who experienced violence as children, partners, or parents - and also those who perpetrated it and decided to change their behavior. Without easy judgments, it names the mechanisms of violence, its often subtle beginnings, and consequences that can persist long after the relationship ends.
The opening episode, Children of Violence, focuses on those who silently witnessed violence at home, even though they may carry its consequences throughout their lives. Candid testimonies show how childhood experiences shape later relationships, how victims or witnesses can become perpetrators themselves, and most importantly - whether this intergenerational cycle can be broken. How can one accept one's own trauma, process it, and avoid passing it on?
