Description was written before the event

A concert marking the double anniversary of Russian composer Alexander D. Kastalsky, whose work fundamentally shaped the development of Russian choral sacred music - influencing composers such as Sergei Rachmaninoff and Pavel Chesnokov.

The programme features selections from the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom for female choir and psalms for male choir. These are complemented by ancient Russian chants that Kastalsky drew upon in his compositions, performed by Hasan El-Duni.

The concert takes place as part of the Archaion Kallos Orthodox Music Festival.
