Silence Is Golden

A French comedy starring Dana Morávková and Jan Čenský in the lead roles.

Not every truth is beautiful, so why air it?

Gaspard and Clémence are still relatively young retirees with a comfortable pension. They live in a lovely apartment and, aside from the occasional minor squabbles that are merely expressions of their temperament, everything is as it should be. Their son Lucas married the beautiful Manon and they have a young son Robert together, whom the parents occasionally babysit.

All of this changes on the day when a heated argument breaks out between Lucas and Manon in front of the parents - Manon has a lover and is leaving on vacation with him. When both young people leave, the married couple begins to debate what to do next. Should Lucas divorce? Gaspard is for it, Clémence against.

Opinions are exchanged faster and faster, until a certain verbal clumsiness occurs and long carefully hidden secrets come to light. It is always wise to avoid certain things - not every truth is beautiful and it can hurt. So why air it.
