Budapest 1957

László Nemes, the creator of Son of Saul, found himself in the main competition of both the world's largest film festivals within a single year: he competed in Venice with Budapest 1957, and then in May in Cannes with another historical drama, Moulin.

Budapest 1957 captures Hungary marked by the bloody suppression of the uprising against the communist regime. As celebrations of May Day are being prepared, the world of a young Jewish boy, Andor, turns upside down.
