Hedy Lamarr: A Woman of Many Faces — Austrian Cultural Forum, Prague

Hedy Lamarr was an exceptional figure: versatile, intelligent, creative, and famous as "the most beautiful woman in the world". Born in Vienna in 1914 into a Jewish family as Hedwig Kiesler, she sought recognition for her intellect rather than her appearance. She was married six times and had three children. She kept her distance from Hollywood's glamour, preferring instead to nurture her inventive spirit. During World War II, she developed a secret communications system that laid the groundwork for modern technologies such as GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Recognition came to her much later. She died in 2000 and was buried in her native city of Vienna.

The exhibition at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague (October 6, 2026 - January 29, 2027) traces the stages of her life, including the traces she left in Prague. Hedy Lamarr's life would probably unfold differently today - the exhibition thus engages with contemporary debates about female empowerment, the #MeToo movement, and the ability to constantly reinvent oneself.

The opening will be attended by the exhibition's curator, Dr. Danielle Spera. The event will be held in German with interpretation into Czech.
