Architecture Day: Opava - Opava's Rental and Residential Buildings
Hotel Koruna, Opava · free entry
A lecture by architectural historian Martin Strakoš and architectural historian Romana Rosová on the transformation of rental and villa housing in Opava over the past 150 years - from the second half of the 19th century to the end of the 20th century.
The programme examines the typology of classical rental buildings for lower and middle classes, the integration of residential units into large department stores, villas and residential buildings from the First Republic era, and the character of urban apartment buildings from the second half of the 20th century. Specific examples range from Altschul through Trautesheim to Orient - the authors are also creators of the Opava architectural manual.
