Based on a True Story - Festival pass

An international artistic project bringing together three Central European organizations - ARCHA+ (Czech Republic), Komuna Warszawa (Poland), and Projekt Batyskaf (Slovakia). It is curated by young theatre makers Adam Dragún (SK/CZ) and Olga Ciężkowska (PL) under the concept "Based on a True Story", which focuses on contemporary theatre and performance practices working with documentary approaches and research methods.

The project asks how truth is constructed, disseminated, and instrumentalized in an era of growing propaganda, algorithms, and social media influence - and whether the motto "based on a true story" can become an active critical artistic practice. It also creates space for the development of documentary and post-documentary theatre in Central Europe and for the exchange of experiences between artists, students, professionals, and the public.

The project unfolds in two phases. First, a new performative work will be created with ARCHA+ support through an OPEN CALL. Then the festival "BASED ON A TRUE STORY" will take place at ARCHA+ in Prague (29 September - 2 October 2026), where this work will meet productions from the Polish and Slovak partners. The programme will be complemented by discussions, after talks, workshops, and educational activities. All three works will subsequently be presented in Bratislava and Warsaw.
