Workshop: Kintsugi for Children

A children's workshop in the Japanese art of kintsugi - the craft of repairing broken objects by joining fragments together. Rather than hiding cracks, they are highlighted, turning the object into a unique original. The technique shows that mistakes and scars are a natural part of life, and objects are given a chance at a second life.

Together we will create animals, plants, and various decorative objects from porcelain shards. Since traditional kintsugi uses natural lacquer (urushi) and real gold, a simplified alternative is used when working with children.

The workshop is prepared for the exhibition "Fragments of Home" at Čepan Gallery, which works with fragments of civilian buildings from Ukraine. Through our creative work, we will show that something new can be created from ruins and fragments.
