Taxmeni is a Czech country band with more than fifty years on stage. They emerged in autumn 1970 from former members of The Plainsmen and Stonewall-Jackson, making their public debut in February 1971. Initially blending folk and bluegrass, they gradually developed their own distinctive style, which they named "military country". Their history and place in the context of Czechoslovak country music is thoroughly documented in Jaroslav Čvančara's book "Taxmeni aneb Hledání country grálu".

The band's repertoire encompasses classic western themes and stories of patriotism, Czechoslovak legionaries, and World War II soldiers. The Calamity Jane album series achieved particular acclaim, with Calamity Jane 4 – Rytíři oblak (2004) composed entirely of Czech melodies, lyrics, and arrangements. Taxmeni received the Golden Porta award "For long-term contribution to Czech country music" and have performed over two and a half thousand times, including successful concerts in Poland and Slovakia.

During the normalization period, they were forced to perform under the name Krajánci; in 1979 they ceased activity and returned to their original name Taxmeni only in the late 1980s.
