Architecture Day: Opava - Holasovice: Community House for Seniors

A tour of a new community housing project in Holasovice, whose design echoes the original barn structure. Fourteen residential units were designed by City Upgrade studio, winner of an architectural competition. The project also received an honorable mention from the prestigious J. M. Olbrich Prize for its integration of contemporary elements with the historic rural courtyard.

The building combines residents' privacy with shared spaces: a library with a striking wooden staircase, common rooms, a workshop, and an interior courtyard. The construction employs natural materials, natural light, and greenery.

Guided by architect Petra Peterková and mayor Václav Volný.

Co-organized by the SAM Association.
