Christiane F. is a young girl from Gropiusstadt in West Germany in the 1970s. At age 12, she first encountered hashish at an evangelical youth centre; at 13, heroin at a disco. She quickly became addicted to drugs — during the day she went to school, in the afternoons she and her friends earned money for drugs through prostitution at Zoo Station.

Christiane F. tells the stories of children whose fate the public learns about only from newspaper headlines announcing their deaths. Her story repeats itself every day around the world.
