Companhia de Música Teatral: Cartografia Sonora Imaginária

A musical and visual performance by the Portuguese ensemble Companhia de Música Teatral, Cartografia Sonora Imaginária guides audiences through "imaginary landscapes" where music and images interweave in a dialogue of ideas, memories, and reminiscences. This edition explores the theme of hope.

Created specifically for the exhibition Argus & Medusa: On Hope in Difficult Times at DOX, the performance enters into dialogue with Théodore Géricault's iconic painting Raft of the Medusa (1816-1819) - its imaginary sounds, darkness, and the moment of hope that Géricault chose to capture. Hope resonates here in a Havellian sense: as a "state of mind", a landscape transcending immediate experience of the real world. The performance is part of the FALL festival.

Companhia de Música Teatral (CMT) is a Portuguese ensemble with over 25 years of practice at the intersection of music with other artistic languages. CMT's repertoire includes performances, installations, workshops, educational activities, and publications; the ensemble performs in Portugal and abroad.
