Architecture Day: Litvínov - Koldům: Nooks, Privacy and Views

A collective housing building in Litvínov was designed by architects Václav Hilský and Evžen Linhart and built between 1947 and 1958 as an experiment in modern living. Beyond apartments, it offered a thoughtfully designed system of shared services: food delivery, a communal dining hall, nursery and kindergarten, and a laundry - all intended to ease daily life for families of local chemical plant workers.

A guided tour led by editor and moderator Jan Beneš will take visitors through the building's interiors, from the former gymnasium through intimate spaces of an original apartment to the roof. The tour explores how residents lived in the building's early years, what changes came in the 1990s, and what challenges and opportunities residents face today.
