Deus ex mikrofona with Ondřej Cihlář

"Deus ex mikrofona" is a series of meetings between the improvisation ensemble My kluci, co spolu chodíme and a different director each time. Live direction, live improvisation – an unrepeatable evening.

A theatre rehearsal can become improvisation and vice versa – the boundary between the prepared and the spontaneous blurs. The director, who normally does not work in front of an audience, enters a vulnerable situation, while the ensemble, accustomed to working without authority, does not know what to expect from him. Meanwhile, the audience can glimpse behind the scenes and into the creative processes of the given personality. None of them know who writes the rules or whose turn it is.

The series points to a paradox of creation – the (im)possibility of directing an improvised performance. The ensemble wants to embody the work of a director who is normally "invisible", while maintaining their own authenticity and spontaneity.

Ondřej Cihlář is one of the key co-authors, actors and founders of Divadlo Vosto5. He graduated in directing and dramaturgy from the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at DAMU in the studio of Miroslav Krobot. In addition to performing in Vosto5, he explores current trends in new circus and moderates discussion programmes (e.g. Vizitka on ČRo).

The performance is suitable from age 15.
