Buczech, Prešporok (SK)

BUCZECH

The South Bohemian band Buczech emerged from the free-form ensemble Buczech Blues, which performed blues standards and rock classics in South Bohemian clubs and village celebrations. The group gradually shifted toward original compositions, building on the folk-rock heritage of guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Petr Vošahlík and bassist Vladimír Hettnera. The current lineup also includes bandleader and keyboardist Jakub Weiss, drummer and multi-instrumentalist Tomáš Krejsa, and violinist Milan Zíka.

Today the repertoire is entirely original, though the band occasionally performs pieces by Tom Waits or Jimi Hendrix. Each member's diverse musical perspective creates a sound that enriches blues and folk-rock with more contemporary influences.

PREŠPOROK (SK)

The Bratislava folk band Prešporok was founded in 1979 and gained significant recognition in the 1980s and 1990s - performing on Slovak folk stages, in Slovak television and radio. The lineup evolved around frontman Kliment Ondrejka; members have included lyricist Daniel Mikletič, pop singer Robo Grigorov, and writer Márius Kopcsay. After a hiatus, the band returned to the stage in 2009.

The current trio features Kliment Ondrejka (vocals, guitar), František Petriska (vocals, guitar, harmonica, recorder), and Vladimír Mrázko (percussion, drums). The band's music blends folk with blues, rock, traditional music, and pop. Their biggest hit is "Tancujúca kráľovná" (Dancing Queen); their latest album "Krehké sny" (Fragile Dreams) was created in collaboration with the Zoe Quartet.
