History Explained - Operation Anthropoid

Operation Anthropoid is one of the most famous stories of Czechoslovak resistance - we know the names Gabčík and Kubiš, we know the assassination of Heydrich, we know the crypt on Resslova Street. But behind these iconic images lies a far more complex story full of preparations, improvisation, chance, and decisions from which there was no turning back.

David Fronk - history teacher and creator of the History Explained podcast - will guide you through the entire operation from its inception to the events following the attack on May 27, 1942. The talk will cover planning, paratrooper training, their journey into the Protectorate, and the network of people from the domestic resistance without which the mission would have had no chance. We will examine the decisive minutes of the attack on Heydrich's car, why everything did not go according to plan, and what came after: the manhunt, betrayal, terror against civilians, and the paratroopers' final stand.
