Senzace Theatre: "The Pastry Shop of the Blind Cat"
Kaštan - Scéna Unijazzu, Prague
A play by the Senzace theatre ensemble, inspired by the spirit of Ivan Vyskočil - though Vyskočil himself never wrote it. Prague, 1936. In a forgotten pastry shop on the edge of the city, cakes, illusions, and certainties vanish.
A baker who can no longer bear to look at sweets, so he bakes them blindfolded. A daughter yearning to escape somewhere she might actually be seen. An assistant caught between philosophy and love. And a world beyond the shop window, slowly changing. A bittersweet play with humour, exaggeration, and a troubling question: what if we only notice change when the window display is empty?
Recommended for lovers of Ionesco, Havel, Beckett, and Vyskočil.
Written and directed by Luboš Pavel. Cast: Šárka Andělová, Boris Dědina, Helena Myslivečková, Luboš Pavel, Dana Pilařová, Josef Rajchl, Marek Šácha, and Markéta Vránová.
