Gould-bergovy variace
"Gould-bergovy variace" is a serious yet playful production where classical pianist Radka Hanáková and contemporary dancer Eliška Benešová meet. The show draws on the legend that Bach's Goldberg Variations were originally composed as a cure for insomnia - and does everything to keep the audience awake. What begins as a focused classical music concert soon transforms into a playful exploration of what Bach's music can bear.
The title also pays homage to Canadian pianist Glenn Gould, whose unconventional approach fundamentally changed how Bach's work is interpreted and perceived. Director Art Babayants (Canadian theatre maker) combines music, movement, objects, and light design, asking how we can enjoy J. S. Bach's timeless music in the 21st century.
Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes with one intermission. Age: 7+
