Adam Štěch - Postmodern Bubble: Japanese Architecture of the 1980s
Sun, 18 Oct 2026 · 12:00 — Sun, 24 Jan 23:59
The creative group Okolo presents its sixth exhibition cycle at Winternitzova vila. This time the focus is on Japanese architecture of the 1980s - an era when Japan became the world's second-largest economy and architects had the freedom to realize their boldest ideas on a grand scale.
The exhibition showcases buildings inspired by comics, science fiction films, and Art Nouveau fantasy: structures shaped like giant robots made of polished chrome and concrete, houses assembled like oversized building blocks, airy constructions reminiscent of silvery clouds. Adam Štěch serves as the exhibition's curator, photographer, and architectural historian all in one.
