A Journey in the Footsteps of the Smiřickys

A full-day excursion following the trail of the Smiřicky family will take place on a public holiday on Monday, 28 September 2026. The route leads to Jičín and the castles of Kumburk and Valdštejn - departure from VILA Štvanice at 8:00, return to Prague around 21:15.

The excursion is linked to the production "Eliška and the Other", the final premiere of Geisslers Hofcomoedianten this year, dedicated to sisters Eliška and Markéta Smiřická. Based on real events, the play explores power that tears apart family, faith and justice, and the lives of women forced to exist within a system designed against them - including the story of how a Czech noblewoman became the first terrorist to blow up half of Jičín.

- 8:00 - departure from VILA to Jičín (1:30 hours travel)
- 9:30 - arrival in Jičín

- 10:00-11:30 - guided tour of Jičín following the Smiřicky trail
- 12:00-13:30 - lunch at Kozlovna Jičín
- 14:00 - departure from Jičín to Kumburk (20 minutes travel)
- 14:30 - arrival at Kumburk
- 15:00-16:00 - guided tour of Kumburk castle
- 16:30 - departure to Valdštejn (50 minutes travel)
- 17:30 - arrival at Valdštejn
- 17:30-18:30 - guided tour of Valdštejn castle
- 18:30-19:30 - Geisslers Hofcomoedianten performance "Beneath the World"
- 20:00 - departure to Prague (1:15 hours travel to VILA)
