The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari

Francis tells the story of his friend Alan and Alan's fiancée Jane. At a fair, they encounter Doctor Caligari, whose attraction is the somnambulist César - a seer who claims to predict the future. When Alan asks how much life he has left, César answers: only until dawn. The prophecy comes true - Alan is murdered and César becomes the prime suspect.

César sneaks into Jane's bedroom and abducts her. Pursued by a mob, he dies from exhaustion. Meanwhile, the police discover a dummy in César's cabinet and Caligari flees. Francis tracks him to a psychiatric hospital - and discovers he is its director. Or is he?
