Jazz on the Roof: Roaring Wild Cats

The Jazz On The Roof series brings an intimate ensemble to the roof of Jazz Dock every summer Saturday. This time, Roaring Wild Cats takes the stage - a band playing acoustic jazz in the style of the 1920s, with an emphasis on period instruments and attire.

The name references both the Roaring Twenties and Clarence Williams' composition "Wild Cat Blues" - a pianist, singer, and composer whose works form the backbone of the band's repertoire. Energetic improvisations and solos sit alongside vocalists bringing a more lyrical, delicate touch to the programme.

The band is made up of musicians recognized at traditional jazz festivals and competitions.
