Chimney

A documentary and movement performance about chimneys and on a chimney, bringing together facts and emotions connected to this symbol of the industrial era. Many disused chimneys are currently being demolished - with their destruction, the memory of place disappears. Can these structures be preserved?

Audience members sit in beach loungers, each with headphones, through which expert commentary interweaves with the experiences of members of the Czech Chimney Sweeps Association. Three performers use movement on the chimney to clarify its physical parameters - dimensions, stability, mass, material, and above all its essential verticality.
