Harlequin Is Dead

"The world is upside down - am I a servant or a master? And does it really matter?"

On a shopping centre car park, a commedia dell'arte story unfolds before the audience. Harlequin, the eternal rogue, plunges for the thousandth time into the familiar machinery of escapades, lazzi and battles between good and evil - but what if the problem of forbidden love resolves itself, without his wit? When reality begins to tear down the boundaries that seemed unquestionable, and the assigned role loses its meaning?

As part of the 80th anniversary celebrations of AMU, the DISK theatre presents a recording of the production "Harlequin is Dead" - a black grotesque by Josef Doležal, a graduate of DAMU. The play won 3rd place in the competition for the Evald Schorn Prize in 2020.
