If Pigeons Turned to Gold

For five years, young filmmaker Pepa Lubojacki documented her own family's stories. Why did addiction rob her brother and two cousins of their relationships, sense of safety, health, and home? And what if addiction itself wasn't the root cause, but something that began much earlier?

The film combines intimate diary footage, animated photographs, stylized memories, and graphic collages. Pepa appears both as director and sister, asking a question with no easy answer: where does love end and control begin? To save, or to let go?

The film is raw and playful, and won the award for best documentary at the Berlin Film Festival.
