Bohumil Bondarenko + Daniel Matejča + Alena Grešlová

Salón Celetná opens its new concert season with an evening featuring two young string musicians. Violist Bohumil Bondarenko and violinist Daniel Matejča will perform solo pieces accompanied by pianist Alena Grešlová, followed by a second half where they play together works by B. Martinů and J. Halvorsen.

Bohumil Bondarenko (*2000) studied viola at the Conservatory in České Budějovice with his mother Larisa Kolcová and piano with Dinara Suleymanova. This year he completed his master's degree under Prof. Jan Pěruška at the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague; he also studied at music universities in Vienna under Prof. Wolfgang Klose and in Graz under Prof. Ori Kama. At the International Oscar Nedbal Viola Competition, he won the prize for the best Czech participant, performed at the Berlin Philharmonic's Lunch Concert and the Smetana Litomyšl Festival, and played solo with the South Bohemian and North Moravian Philharmonic Orchestras.

As violist of the Sukov String Quartet (with Daniel Matejča, Natalia Toperczerová and Jakub William Gráf), he won first prize at the Talents for Europe competition in 2022; the quartet has performed at the Prague Spring Festival, the Concentus Moraviae Festival and Hamburg Kammermusikfest International. He is a graduate of the Tomáš Jamník Chamber Music Academy, has collaborated with artists such as Jan Fišer, Niklas Liepe and Irvin Venyš, and is a member of the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Daniel Matejča (*2005) has been playing violin since age four, and since age five has been a student of Prof. Ivan Štraus, in whose class he completed his master's degree this year at the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He has won first prizes at the Josef Muzika Competition, the Kocian Violin Competition, Jugend musiziert in Halle and the Telemann Competition in Poznań, the Golden Nut Award and second prize in solo performance at Concertino Praga (2020), where he performed Prokofiev's Concerto with the Symphony Orchestra at the Rudolfinum.
