Concert for Sunset & Nehudba nemíst (Mary C + hiding season)

The final concert in the Concerts for Sunset series takes place at the end of September. It will be followed by a listening walk called Nehudba nemíst - a regular event organized by Synth Library in collaboration with Přístav 18600. The sets will feature sound fragments captured around the Karlín waterfront.

Mary C - Deep Mixing

Marie Čtveráčková, known as Mary C, works with rap, experimental electronic dance music, and sound art in her DJ sets. In her Deep Mixing set, she layers soundscapes - from introspective musical expressions of humans and other creatures to field recordings of urban life, from whose fragments she composes new collages. She blends atmospheres rarely heard in music clubs with her own compositions and fragments of existing, primarily electronic, music. She understands DJing as a play with connections and hierarchies in the sonic world, which reflects unequal power structures and is not easy to silence or tune out.

hiding season

hiding season builds on layering and processing field recordings, to which it adds sound design with synthesizer melodies and occasionally vocals. For the live set on September 22, she has prepared work with recordings from her private space - rhythmic sounds of household appliances, sounds of people moving nearby, and sounds of natural elements, wind or water. In her current work, she focuses on capturing a certain kind of sadness through the sounds that surround her. Her sonic acrobatics balance on the edge of dissonance - sonically and in attempts to reconstruct important sound memories. hiding season is a member of the favu label collective and also performs with her band Keiko Sei.
