Prague Birds

A site-specific performative audio walk where you encounter the city's birds and an ornithologist.

Prague Birds is a performative audio walk inspired by the book of the same name by Czech ornithologist Veleslav Wahl, who recorded the lives of birds in Prague in the mid-1940s. Wahl's book serves as a starting point for observing the contemporary city and its avian inhabitants.

During the walk, you will hear the voices of ornithologists, authentic field recordings, and original music inspired by individual bird species and their presence in the urban landscape. The musical aspect of the project is a collaboration between Marek Karpilovski and Athena Chlebová, who has long focused on Prague's pigeons.
