A Year in Peru and Bolivia - Jan Rendl - Havířov
Městská knihovna Havířov, pobočka Svornosti, Havířov
A travel lecture by Jan Rendl about a year spent in Peru and Bolivia.
The programme covers plenty of unexpected moments: a state coup, a descent down the so-called Death Road (the world's most dangerous highway), an escape before his own wedding. Beyond famous sites like Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca, the lecture explores the oldest discovered city in the Americas with five-thousand-year-old pyramids, gold-mining settlements high in glacial mountains, and the world's highest city. The schedule includes glacier climbs and ascents of the highest peaks in both countries - Huascarán and Sajama, a circuit around the sacred Incan mountain Ausangate with bathing in hot springs, and a visit to the famous rainbow mountain Vinicunca. The programme also features bullfighting, Peruvian school life, indigenous baptism with guinea pig tasting, open sale of dynamite at a Bolivian market, tarantulas, and the place where Che Guevara was killed.
Admission: 150 CZK in advance / 200 CZK at the door.
