Their name might mean nothing to you, or it might instantly bring to mind the chorus of "Měl bych tě sejmout" that rings out from every other rock festival. Cocotte Minute concerts are not your average stop where a band plays a set and disappears backstage. This crew has done things others would not dare even imagine: they played a concert inside Mirov prison and launched a tour at a sex shop. And when they decided to record a new album, they did not go to a studio. They recorded it entirely live, in a single take, and raised over a quarter of a million crowns for the project through crowdfunding. Prison, latex and a bet on one shot with no chance of a do-over. That is a calling card you will not easily find elsewhere in Czech music.

And they are no newcomers still looking for an audience. Cocotte Minute have over 700 concerts under their belt and six released recordings. Their biggest hit is known even by someone who has never heard of the band: "Měl bych tě sejmout" comes from their debut Czeko, released in 2004. If you are tracking when and where to catch them live, you are in the right place. We will go through their story, their sound and where to head in summer 2026.

Who are Cocotte Minute: from pressure cooker to the top of the scene

The Prague crossover and nu-metal band was formed in 1998 and gradually established itself among the most prominent names on the domestic club scene. The name means pressure cooker in French.

Let us start with the name, because that is what catches everyone first. The phrase "Cocotte Minute" means pressure cooker in French, and as frontman Martin Zeller recalls, the idea came in a text message from a friend who said everyone would remember it, and she was right. The flip side is that because of a name that sounds borderline to some in Czech, a few promoters preferred not to invite the band to their events.

Musically they are a Czech crossover and nu-metal band founded in 1998. The breakthrough came with their debut: in 2004 the album Czeko was released, considered one of the most successful albums in the heavier genre in the history of Czech popular music. That is where the songs come from that fans still shout along with the band to this day.

The discography then moved quickly. Albums Proti sobě (2006), Sado Disco vol. 1 (2010) and Sado Disco vol. 2 (2012) followed, after which the band took a two-year break. They themselves consider a turning point to be the live video album they recorded in front of an audience in a single live take. According to the booklet it was recorded live in one take in a factory hall near the Berounský Medvěd brewery, so despite the presence of fans it was not a regular club concert. It was released in 2015 and is called !Rituál, kmen a srdce a kmen! - and no, the doubled word "kmen" is not a typo. The video album title with the doubled word "kmen" seems deliberately odd, it is a wordplay. The band raised over a quarter of a million crowns for the project through crowdfunding and the record won Album of the Year in the Zebrik 2016 poll. After that came the album Veď mě (2018) and the EP Zllá láska, announced in 2022 and released in 2023.

Sound, lyrics and the man who composes between broadcasts

The distinctive aggressive vocals of Martin Zeller, sharp guitars and Czech lyrics that are not afraid of topics others avoid. All the music is written by the guitarist who spends his days commentating on sport.

What sets Cocotte Minute apart from a band that just hits the strings loudly? They rank among the absolute elite not only of their genre but of the entire Czech club scene, and are praised for their musical perspective and strong Czech lyrics. Their trademark is the aggressive, emotional vocals of frontman Martin Zeller and distinctive Czech lyrics, and the band also puts great care into the production of their music videos.

The best story from the lineup, however, belongs to the guitarist. Ondrej Vorsilka, known to everyone as Czendal, is a founding member and songwriter of Cocotte Minute and a graduate of the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory. Here is where it gets interesting: by day he is a sports chief commentator, by night a guitarist, and early on he turned down well-paid offers to play jazz on a cruise ship and a scholarship to study music in the USA, because he found artistic meaning in the band. He took his dedication so far that he had the band's logo tattooed on his arm. And because concerts and important matches both tend to fall on weekends, he had to get a pretty fast car to deal with the clashes. On stage you can spot him easily: he is usually styled as a ninja.

What to expect from the live show

A spectacular visual experience with lights, fire and precise sound. The band treats a concert as a ritual, not as running through a playlist.

Cocotte Minute built their reputation above all on stage. They are known for their unmistakable live presentation, spectacular show, musical professionalism and precise sound. Lucerna Music Bar summed it up well: they deliver an audiovisual show, an adventure for the ears and eyes. This sense of image and atmosphere carries through to regular club concerts, not just big festival stages.

And then there are those legendary moments that prove the band loves to make the concert format its own playground. They have a music video shot in a single take, a tour launch at a sex shop and a video record recorded live in a single take. During the Sado Disco tour there was also a live show at a sex shop, complete with latex outfits. This is not a band that just shows up, plays and leaves.

The audience context matters too. At a concert you will not only meet the metal core, but also people who know the band from music videos and radio. Cocotte Minute are well known to all fans of hard guitar music, the atmosphere tends to be tight and very personal. The band has, as they themselves say, passionate fans who keep coming back.

Black Spring and tips for summer across genres

At the Sumava show, Cocotte Minute will be joined by Black Spring as the support act. And if you want a summer full of music in different colours, the calendar offers a solid lineup of other concerts across the country.

The band will not be travelling to Hartmanice alone. BLACK SPRING will take care of the support, so the evening gives you more than one band. If you want to know more about the support act in advance, check out the Black Spring profile on our site and listen to a few tracks so you know what you are getting into.

Heavier guitars are of course not the only music worth a trip this summer. Those who prefer more intimate formats will find them at the Medova vila in Humpolec, where the Letni koncerty ve Stromovce series is running - for example with the band KvarteTones in mid-July, or with Kolchoz and Jenakaši on the last day of July. Both acts can also be browsed through our artists page.

Those heading to northern Moravia will find a whole cycle at the Koprivnice cultural centre: from Kytarovka through Jiri Gadula to Mr. Day. And in Uherske Hradiste the city is traditionally brought to life by the 52nd Summer Film School with its concerts and theatre performances. If you want everything in one place, save our concert overview and keep an eye on who gets added.

Practical tips: tickets and when to go

Tickets for the Sumava show (Hartmanice, 31 July 2026) can be bought through smsticket.cz, where the event is listed as the official sale. With a band that has such a loyal following, it pays to buy tickets in advance.

For the Cocotte Minute & Black Spring | Sumava event, the rule is simple: buy ahead. Club and smaller outdoor dates with a band that has a devoted fanbase fill up fast, and the doors sometimes close earlier than you would expect.

The second tip is about planning. The band tours a lot, but not every city gets a date every year. They do perform regularly at most major Czech festivals and club tours, but trips abroad and regional dates tend to be irregular. So when a stop comes up within reach, do not put it off. Next time it could easily be a few years away, as shown by the three-year gap between appearances at Nezamek itself.

And third: keep an eye on who the band is touring with. Cocotte Minute enjoy going on joint tours with bands such as Dymytry, Trautenberk or Elektrick Mann. The evening lineup often determines whether you are going for one band or for a whole showcase.
