Yann Tiersen Music | Prague
A concert of Yann Tiersen's music, the composer behind the Amélie from Montmartre and Good Bye Lenin! soundtracks, with pianist František Panáček at the Church of Sts. Simon and Jude.
Yann Tiersen is a French composer and multi-instrumentalist from Brittany whose work spans neoclassical piano, folk-inflected chamber music and electronics. He reached global audiences through his soundtracks for Amélie (2001) and Good Bye, Lenin!, but his catalog of over twenty albums extends well beyond cinema. In recent years he has shifted toward solo piano minimalism and electronic experimentation, with his touring and artistic choices increasingly shaped by climate activism.
Tiersen released a double album Rathlin from a Distance | The Liquid Hour (Mute Records) - the first part consists of eight introspective piano compositions, the second brings electronic music and psychedelic rhythms.
Tiersen conducted an extensive European tour, which included a sold-out performance at London's Barbican, participation in the Glastonbury festival, and a climate-activist performance at the Norwegian oil refinery Mongstad together with AURORA.
As part of the Polar Sonics Tour project, Tiersen undertook an Arctic tour on his sailing yacht Ninnog and performed on Svalbard, including during a voyage past the Monacobreen glacier.
Tiersen continues his tour of Great Britain and Ireland, which follows the European concert series from 2025.
