Whispers in the Shadow are a gothic rock band from Vienna, Austria, active since 1996. Founded by vocalist and guitarist Ashley Dayour - also known as a guitarist for L'Âme Immortelle - the band takes its name from an H. P. Lovecraft story. Over nearly three decades they have released twelve studio albums, making them one of Austria's longest-running acts in the gothic and dark wave scene.
The band released their twelfth studio album Rapture on the French label Icy Cold Records - their first collaboration with this publisher.
The album Rapture was recorded in Vienna and Berndorf between December 2024 and March 2025 and mastered by Friedemann Kootz in Berlin.
Ashley Dayour confirmed in an interview that the band has reserved live performances for 2026, including the Amphi Festival in Cologne.
In August 2023, they released their eleventh album Ghosts, which was described as their heaviest and darkest record in the band's history.
The band performed at Prague Gothic Treffen 2024, as confirmed by a live review of this festival.
