Walter Huston

About

Walter Huston (1884-1950) was a Canadian-born American actor who moved from vaudeville through Broadway to Hollywood, becoming one of the most respected performers of the early sound era. He is best remembered for playing the grizzled prospector Howard in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948), directed by his son John Huston, a role that earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He founded the Huston acting dynasty - son John and granddaughter Anjelica both went on to win Oscars of their own.
