Between Worlds
An interdisciplinary festival bridging science and spirituality, featuring lectures by neuroscientists, theologians, and artists, alongside workshops, film screenings, and a concert.
Prof. MUDr. Vladimír Beneš, DrSc. (born 30 July 1953, Prague) is one of the Czech Republic's foremost neurosurgeons, with more than 8,000 brain operations to his name. He headed the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurooncology at the Central Military Hospital Prague and Charles University's 1st Medical Faculty from 1997 to 2020, served as president of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (2011-2015), and received the Medal of Merit (1st class, science) in 2023. Beyond the operating theatre, he is a widely sought public speaker whose lectures on the brain regularly sell out across the country.
Beneš will perform on November 26, 2025 at the Workers' House in Brno-Židenice with a lecture What the Brain Can Do (and What We Can Do), which will include a discussion and autograph session.
In October 2025, Professor Beneš gave a lecture at the School of International and Public Relations Prague, organized by a student association.
In April 2025, Beneš lectured in Pardubice at the Hronovická Cultural Center and in Plzen at KD Šeříkovka.
In November 2024, an interview with Professor Beneš about dopamine addiction and human brain capacity was released on YouTube.
In September 2024, Beneš performed as part of Mental Health Weeks at the castle in Dobřichovice with a lecture on the relationship between nature and brain function.
