Vio-Lence is an American thrash metal band from the San Francisco Bay Area, formed in 1985. Their debut album Eternal Nightmare (1988) established them as one of the most ferocious acts on the Bay Area scene, and they are counted among the genre's so-called Big Six alongside Exodus, Testament and others. After disbanding in the early 1990s, the band reunited in 2019 and released the EP Let the World Burn (2022, Metal Blade Records) - their first new recordings in nearly three decades.
Vio-Lence announced a summer world tour in 2026 called 'Eruption of Screams', which includes Europe, Great Britain, Russia and Asia and starts on July 20 in Gdansk.
The band confirmed that it will release new musical material in 2027.
Vio-Lence replaced Toxic Holocaust on Death Angel's fall tour across the USA after Joel Grind broke his arm.
The band presented a new lineup for the European tour 'Oppressing the Masses', which celebrated the 35th anniversary of the album of the same name; the only original member on the tour remained vocalist Sean Killian.
Guitarist Phil Demmel played his last concert with Vio-Lence on February 11, 2024 in São Paulo, Brazil.
