Vilém Pfeiffer

About

Vilém Pfeiffer (1910-1986) was a Czech actor and theatre director. He grew up in Bratislava and began his career with travelling theatre companies before joining the left-leaning D 34 ensemble in the mid-1930s. His longest stage engagement was at the Divadlo bratří Mrštíků in Brno, where he built a reputation for character roles. On screen he often played intellectuals, policemen or villains, and made a notable comeback in Karel Kachyňa's film Škaredá dědina (1975) after a twenty-year break from cinema.
