Vidiek is a Slovak pop-rock band founded in 1987 in Rovinka, near Bratislava, by former members of Ventil RG. The core trio of vocalist Ján Kuric, guitarist Richard Jajcay and drummer Oňo Tomčala has remained intact since day one. The band built a cult following through sharp humor, a deliberate parody of rural dance-band aesthetics, and a string of radio hits that became part of Slovak popular culture. Over more than three decades they have performed across Europe and beyond, including the USA, Ireland and Ukraine.
The band Vidiek released a new single Na ceste on January 15, 2025 in collaboration with Serbian world music star Boban Markovič Orkestar.
The live premiere of the single Na ceste took place on January 25, 2025 at a concert in Prague's Lucerna Music Bar, which was the band's first major performance in Prague in many years.
The band Vidiek also presented the single Na ceste in a live performance on the TV JOJ morning news on February 4, 2025.
In October 2021, Vidiek released a double compilation Najvidiekovatejší with the publisher Opus, which compiles the best recordings from the band's entire career.
