TÝR is a folk and Viking metal band from Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, active since 1998. Named after the Norse god of war, the band built its reputation on a distinctive blend of heavy metal with Faroese and Norse folk traditions, drawing lyrical themes from Viking mythology and history. Their ninth studio album, Battle Ballads, was released in April 2024 via Metal Blade Records.
