Tramell Tillman (born June 17, 1985, Washington, D.C.) is an American actor who spent over a decade in the nonprofit sector before turning to acting professionally, becoming the first African-American man to earn an MFA in acting from the University of Tennessee. He broke through as Seth Milchick in the Apple TV+ sci-fi thriller Severance (2022-present), drawing on his own corporate experience to shape the character. In September 2025, he won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series - the first Black person and first openly gay person to do so.
In July 2026, Tillman will appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bill Metzger, head of the Department of Damage Control, in the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside Tom Holland.
In April 2026, Severance was recognized in a Television Academy article as a series that won a total of eight Emmy Awards at the 77th Emmy Awards, with Tillman's performance in the second season being highlighted as key to this success.
In February 2026, Apple TV+ acquired all rights to the series Severance from production company Fifth Season for approximately 70 million dollars; filming of the third season is scheduled from April to December 2026.
On September 14, 2025, at the 77th Emmy Awards, Tillman won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Milchick in Severance - as the first Black and first openly gay actor in the history of this category.
In May 2025, Tillman made his debut in the major film Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning in the role of Captain Bledsoe, commander of an American submarine; the role was offered to him by director Christopher McQuarrie after watching Severance.
