Tim Burton (born 1958, Burbank, California) is an American film director and artist whose work blends gothic horror with dark fantasy and a distinctly offbeat visual style. He made his name with films like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and Batman, and in 2005 directed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, his adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic. Composer Danny Elfman has scored nearly all of his films.
