Thelma Ritter was an American film actress best known for her sharp-tongued supporting roles in Hollywood films of the 1940s and 1950s. She holds the record for six Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. In Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954), she played Stella, the wisecracking nurse.
