The Cassandra Complex is a British-Irish post-punk and industrial band formed in Leeds in 1984 by Rodney Orpheus, Paul Dillon, and Andy Booth. Their sound - EBM, goth rock, and post-punk layered over electronic rhythms and distorted guitars - has been described as a collision of Joy Division, the Ramones, and Kraftwerk. The band built a devoted following across European alternative scenes and in 2024 marked their 40th anniversary with a world tour spanning 49 shows across 13 countries.
The band announced a new album Generating Station Complex (COP International) and a European tour in autumn 2026 with stops in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Croatia and the Czech Republic.
The anniversary tour CX40 included 49 concerts in 13 countries, including a performance before 4,000 fans at the M'era Luna festival.
The album Death & Sex (a re-recording of the original Sex & Death from 1993) was released and immediately reached number one on the German alternative chart DAC.
The album The Plague, recorded during the COVID quarantine, spent 8 weeks at the top of the German alternative chart DAC.
The second part of the CX40 world tour included the USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Chile and Brazil - for the first time in almost 20 years, the band performed in America.
