Le Bal is a 1983 film by Italian director Ettore Scola, co-produced with France and Algeria. Set in a Parisian suburban dance hall, it spans nearly fifty years of history - from 1936 to 1983 - without a single word of dialogue. The story unfolds entirely through dance, music and mime, with a soundtrack ranging from Edith Piaf chansons to Beatles songs. It was adapted from a stage production by Paris's Le Théâtre du Campagnol.
