Symphony Prague

About

Symphony Prague is a private Czech orchestra founded in Prague in 2008, drawing its players from the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK), the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra and the National Theatre Orchestra. Chief conductor Štefan Britvík has led the ensemble since its inception. The orchestra tours regularly across Europe - particularly Germany, France, Spain and Italy - and has appeared at festivals including the Brandenburgische Sommerkonzerte and the Bayreuther Osterfestival. Its core repertoire centres on Czech music by Smetana, Dvořák and Janáček alongside classical and Romantic works.

  • 2025

    Symphony Prague performed at the St. Vitus Cathedral Organ Evenings in St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague as a guest orchestra of the festival.

  • 2024-01

    The chamber orchestra Harmonia Praga, created as part of Symphony Prague, opened the New Year concert at the Nuselska Town Hall in Prague 4.

  • 2013

    Harmonia Praga, the chamber branch of Symphony Prague, presented the world premiere of the newly discovered E major Symphony by Vanhal and the violin concerto by J. J. Ryba at the Novoměstská Town Hall.
