Sviatoslav Vakarchuk (born 14 May 1975) is a Ukrainian rock singer, songwriter and civic activist, best known as the frontman and primary songwriter of Okean Elzy - the most commercially successful rock band in post-Soviet Ukraine, which he co-founded in Lviv in 1994. He holds a PhD in theoretical physics, briefly served as a member of the Ukrainian parliament, and joined the territorial defence forces after Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. His charity concerts worldwide have raised tens of millions of hryvnias for Ukraine.
Vakarchuk announced an autumn solo tour across Europe with concerts in Antwerp, Vilnius, Dublin, Zurich, and Cannes.
The proceeds from Vakarchuk's 'New. Familiar' tour in May 2025 were donated to support the medical staff of the Azov unit.
Vakarchuk celebrated his 50th birthday and publicly showed his children for the first time.
Okean Elzy released their tenth studio album 'That Day' (September 20, 2024) and embarked on a tour for the band's 30th anniversary.
After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Vakarchuk enlisted in the territorial defense of Lviv region on March 7, 2022.
