Steve Vai is an American guitarist celebrated for his technical virtuosity and innovative electric guitar playing. He rose to prominence working with Frank Zappa and David Lee Roth before launching a successful solo career. In the 1980s he was also a member of King Crimson, the lineup that recorded the albums Discipline, Beat, and Three of a Perfect Pair.
