Stephanie Comilang

About

Stephanie Comilang (born 1980, Toronto) is a Filipina-Canadian artist and filmmaker based between Toronto and Berlin. Her videos and installations explore migration, global labour, and the diasporic experience through what she calls "sci-fi documentary" - blending documentary footage with speculative fiction. She won the 2019 Sobey Art Award, Canada's top prize for visual artists. Her work has been shown at Tate Modern, Hamburger Bahnhof, and Sharjah Biennial, among others.
