Sisters of Mercy is a British gothic rock band formed in Leeds in 1980, fronted by Andrew Eldritch. Their sound is defined by dark atmospheres, a drum machine nicknamed "Dr. Avalanche", layered synthesizers, and Eldritch's deep baritone. Key albums include First and Last and Always (1985) and Floodland (1987).
